Unique key combination

@rpkamp. Fair enough. I was asking because in a lot of examples I saw them stating to use just one pair. But with the example you have confinced me, thanks

He means we could have skipped posts #1 through #9 if you were clear on your requirements from post 1. Specifically, don’t call it a “friendship” if it doesn’t behave like one.

@rpkamp. Maybe it was wrongly described by me, but isn’t the principle the same? A lot of my friendships are based on similar interests

They certainly are, but on Facebook and Twitter they’re not automatically symmetric, so anyone reading your OP automatically goes there.

Anyway, not a big deal, just a friendly request to re-read your OP as if you’re unfamiliar with the problem the next time

Did you ever try Elephant Rudi? You should try!!!

I would love to try and help here but I am just not sure what we are really dealing with. OP, could you please describe the REAL problem you are trying to solve instead of your attempt at solving it.

Best I can tell is we are dealing with a “Community Portal” whatever that may be, that has “friendships” that are not really friendships but are “interests” that may or may not include Sandwiches and Elephants.

In the Netherlands, where i’m from, we try to activate personal contacts again. So a ot of community portals are made trying to bring people together again based on similar interests. Now a days a lot of people not even know their neighbors. That is the REAL problem. So no XY Problems

Ok, great. Now tell us what the application will do (not tecnically how it will do it) to address what you described. Is there perhaps other sites that you can reference that do the same thing you want to do?

@benanamen. Just as the question was. And I followed up on the suggestion made by @rpkamp and @r937 to do a double insert and for now that is working great!
