Yes and yes.
SSRS doesn’t care where the db is located. Just reference Server\Instance.
Sometimes it works as Server$Instance.
For example, I currently have SSMS accessing installations on a completely separate domain. Just have to get the firewall and IT to let you through.
Sharepoint installs it’s own express instance so it works fine and could care less where the original data is.
