Server side gif shows black background - should be transparent

Still looks fine to me. If I use the Web Developer toolbar to view image info, it also shows them correctly. If I save the images and view them with an image viewer, they have transparent backgrounds.

Iā€™ve managed to contact a friend who confirms that he is also seeing the images correctly.

I think I have a serious issue with my Surface Pro device! :worried:

Still sounds like a stubborn cache to me.

Sometimes it can be difficult to clear the cache on these devices so google 'clear cacheā€™for your specific machine and youā€™ll find that others have similar problems and solutions.

Maybe try renaming the test page and the gif file names.

You may get away with just adding a fake url variable on the image url and save having to actually rename the files.
src="pathtofile/filename.gif?version=new"

Thanks SamA74, tried that and all other suggestions above but they didnā€™t work.
I am back at my PC now and it shows no sign of the problem seen on my Surface Pro 4.
I do not intend to pursue this any further but if I do find a solution, or it sorts itself out, I will give feedback.
Thanks everyone for your help.

Hello all,
As promised some feedback.
I do not have this issue using my Surface Pro here in the UK. The issue was only seen on my Surface Pro while using it Tenerife. I wonā€™t know if this has sorted itself out until I next visit Tenerife.
WEIRD
Thanks again.

I still believe it points to a cache issue and you are now just getting new images when returning to the UK (probably a different server). You could have verified this easily by viewing source on the page you retrieved and seeing that you actually had the new image name in the source.

You said in your previous post that the problem was solved here anyway?

You do however need to create those images correctly as pngs in a professional paint package and not copy and paste with the clipboard at all when moving them.

^ Yes, the difference had caused me some confusion until I noticed the message box while using IrfanView about ā€œtransparencyā€. Then it was ā€œAha! some methods Iā€™ve used lose thatā€.
