New Book Release: Build your own Wicked WordPress Themes

Is this book going to be available on Kindle devices?

I’m reading this one http://www.amazon.com/Smashing-WordPress-Beyond-Blog-Magazine/dp/0470684151/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1282363301&sr=8-1, which I’ve learned a lot but I suspect yours might be a lot more useful and more in-depth. That author treats us like we’re supposed to be afraid of coding which is not my case, that’s my strongest skill at this point.

@gt651, I’m not 100% sure I understand your question, but all you need to do is save the XML file to your machine (right click the link and save as…) and then upload it in your WordPress import page.

There’s got to be some good information in there, because Raena Jackson Armitage is co-authoring.

P.S. Congrats on your first post.
(Just look at my wicked post count. Since 2001.)

Thanks for sharing - just ordered it and will take 5-10 days to receive it; probably sooner.
@Grumpy; I will be second best to you; my posts since 2004

@psomers: I’d say no. Though the book does have a design angle, it’s presented in a way that anyone can benefit from. I’m not much of a designer, but I appreciate a lot of the design tips in the book. Obviously if you want to design and sell WordPress themes professionally, you need to have some design skill, but if you just want to hack away at the code, or if you’re working with a designer, there’s tons of useful stuff in there.

I cant wait to get my copy now after reading all the above reviews!!!

This sounds like a splendid book. It’s on my wishlist now.

I love it!!! I haven’t had to touch any HTML at all yet I can still do so many brilliant things!! I never thought that would be possible! And it’s so simple to do!!! I can now add widgets wherever I want, custom design elements and make huge changes effortlessly and within minutes rather than hours!!! Thankyou for such an amazing book!!!

Nope. Before posting here it’s already 24 hours since I emailed the support center. But it’s ok. I’ll just keep waiting for my ebook. I don’t have any intention to make any complaint. Just sharing some experience with you guys here.

Yeah Joshua, I know that because I also read the instruction in the order receipt.

But after entered the order ID and email I got error message :

Log in error:

The email address and order number you submitted did not correspond with a customer who has purchased a downloadable PDF. Please check your email receipt and enter your email address and order number exactly as they appear on the receipt.

Emailed to sitepoint support and still no answer.

Hmm…

No luck at all.

Yeah that’s the link you need to click on.

You should be able to download the digital version right away, assuming whatever payment method you used clears instantly then you will get an email right after you order containing a ‘claim’ link, click on that and it takes you to a page where you can download all the books you have bought. I’ve bought almost every Sitepoint book and have never had a problem with this in the past.

Thanks for your concern  But there’s no direct download link in the email. Only the one sounds like this :

To claim your downloadable PDF file, please visit this link:
http://www.sitepoint.com/books/pdf/claim

And the rest of the email is order information.

Try clicking on the link in the email rather than entering the order number manually.

I’ve had ‘Build your Own Wicked WordPress Themes’ for a few days now and have to say it’s brilliant!!!

I’ve been struggling to build a theme for ages (coding really isn’t my thing and there are half a million elements to worry about) but this book explains everything so well. My theme is now coming along at leaps and bounds and I’m also able to do a few really nice design elements I wouldn’t have been able to do before!

Just wanted to add my two cents worth!

Hello guys,

Just ordered this book together with it’s digital version. I understand for physical book should take 5-10 days to arrive in front of my house but what makes me little ‘pain’ is, I still can’t access somewhat we called membership area to download the digital version. Already emailed to sitepoint support but no luck. Maybe they’re too busy counting the sales of this book

This is my first try buying stuff with sitepoint and I’m quite shock because I can’t immediately download the digital version after purchase.

Come on sitepoint, people can wait up to 2 weeks for the physical book but as for digital version, I think everybody expect immediate download after purchase. Am I right?

Hopefully any sitepoint staff can explain this matter.

Very cool, I have always wanted to start building my own wordpress themes, I just never knew how to, this definitely helps.

Well, it’s only been 2 hours (at least at my time) and it is Saturday. Be a bit patient. They normally take up to 24 hours to answer although I don’t know if that’s true during weekends.

Great to hear you guys are still cranking out the book releases!

I know there’s a lot of people who will benefit from a Wordpress title.
