If your website is according to google guidelines such as good design, unique content, proper meta tags then you will definitely get ranking easily. Any link which you can place yourself is regarded as pretty well worthless my search engines, so concentrating on link-building is largely a waste of time. Most reputable sites where you can post a link mark user-submitted links as nofollow, in accordance with Google’s guidelines, rendering them useless for SEO. Posting on forums or blog commenting with the main intention of link-dropping, rather than adding to the discussion, is more likely to get your account banned than help your SEO.

Press releases should only be used if you have something newsworthy to announce. You should not attempt to abuse them as a source of back links.

I think on-page blog is the best technique. But you also need great, unique content on page to rank well.
