How much can a freelance web designer earn per month?

I was making enough to sustain myself for several years…then I moved to another country and I had to get a regular job.
Freelancing gives you freedom…but also gives your more responsibilities.

It really all depends on how many clients you can optain - I know its best to charge low, then start charging high - especially once you have a steady flow of customers. Its best to come into the business being cheap, than being so expensive.

Don’t you think so? I know different web designers earn more than others - its the same as being involved with affiliate marketing, not everyone makes the same amount of income.

I used to be in the same situation Pixelateur is in, not until the 30X500 online class of amy hoy was launched. It has actually helped me in building, marketing and selling my products. I hope you found this useful!

Anyone whos is considering to start his own business, i would suggest.
Do it!!
Do it if you are willing to:

  • work 10 - 14 hours a day
  • learn, learn, learn
  • improve, improve, improve
  • leave the house and talk to a lot of clients
  • make a good “product” and satisfy the customer
  • love what you are doing

I started in 2006 as a one man show.
It was hard to find clients in the beginning - starting with friends and acquaintances.
But i could make my living right from the start.

I sent mailings out to many busineses (1000-2000 pieces a month) and was on the knocker for many month. It was not really hard, but also not very nice.

In 2008 i had enough clients, so many projects were redesigns or new projects of “signed” customers. I stopped sending mails and started AdWords.
Now it really started to be pleasent and i really enjoyed myself - still working 10 to 14 hours a day - 6 days a week.

In 2009 i had a partner (my Brother) to join in my business.
This was the big step. After we doubled the capacities i could engage a little more with selling, while my brother could focus on designing and producing.
Now we are actually have 6 staff in a small webdesign agency - and my income is becoming nice.
I love my job and i still (“have to”) work 10 to 14 hours a day - 6 days a week.
