Expression Web -- Your New PHP Tool Kit

Well this is cool…
My MSDN membership provides me with Expression Web 3 and Expression 3 Studio… I’m downloading it now

I was seriously thinking of switching from the testy and notoriously unreliable Dreamweaver (which I’ve used for over 10 years). Thanks for the tutorial for a little insight.

I’ll have to come back though, I just realized there’s no comments yet…

Thanks for the concise review. I own a copy, but reckon any serious web developer will stick to notepad, textwrangler etc. - I’m still scarred from my experiences with Dreamweaver and don’t see Web Expression any differently. To people who love Dreamweaver/Web Expression - you’re a mom, or a dad, or a graphics designer trying to cut HTML, one of the three.

lol, I used to be the same way.

Spoken like a true newbie

Expression Web 3 is has nice features and believe it or not it produces more standards complaint code than dreamweaver. Although i want to use EW3 it’s interface could be better, when you have lots of tabs open something like “Close all but this” would be nice, scrolling in the editor sucks completly and sometimes the program crashes without a valid reason…which is very bad.

Where can I get the code for this article? I can’t find it in code archive.

Thanks.

I just purchased Microsoft’s Expression Web software and I am excited to get started but I know next to nothing about web design. So, I am looking for a comprehensive tutorial that starts from the very basics of designing a website with this program and ends with explaining the full capabilities of the program.:shifty:

Reminds me of Dreamweaver and this could be an ideal for web developers but what we need is something that can easily integrate with publishing software such as Photoshop.

Can it do that?

Thanks Raena for the premier article. I hope you’ll let us know your experience with the trial version and if you think it is worth buying. Q.: does silverlight come with it or is it an add on you have to purchase? Btw, the link to the Photo Shop in the article would not open for me. Adobe photo shop cs4 is now cheap at Amazon. Is it an old version?

I believe that is answered on page 3 of the article under the heading “Importing Graphics from Photoshop”

Just now I am trying Xara Web Designer with heaps of features and templates. Interesting to know if anyone here is familiar with it. It’s a 30 days trial version with CD as well. Looks impressive.

any provider out there with EW3 as a service? it looks promising, but managing another development tool with its workflow is not on 2010 resolutions list

Hi Everyone,

I’m not sure if “http://www.sitepoint.com/forums/showthread?t=650714” is the right place to post this. I’m curious about all those ads I’ve seen promising I can make money online answering surveys. Has anyone done it and actualyl gotten paid? Thanks!

Hi James,
Welcome.
Please consider starting a new thread for this topic. This way you are bound to get more answers. My answer is ‘unlikely’, they probably are more after your details.
