Adblockers killing websites

Welcome to he forums, @seyzed.

This seems to me to be much the same as those sites which show nothing unless you enable JavaScript. I want to see the content of the site first and know it’s relevant and of interest to me before I’ll consider enabling JS or disabling AdBlock. If I can’t see the site to make that judgement, then I will simply leave and not return.

Just to clarify here, are you saying that you use AdBlock Plus yourself when visiting other sites, but you prevent other people using it when they visit yours?

You seriously believe that? Most people who get your full screen message will bail at that point. Only a small minority will bother to register.

We had some adds on an external site, that wasen’t supposed to be blocked since it wasen’t commercial per. say. We wrote to addblocker and made them remove it from their list. If anyone else has problems with this, I suggest you use this approach

Yes, how hippocratic!
That’s my source of income. I use adblock for the popup ads that’s popups up everywhere and distracts me.

That’s not how I made 35k clean email list in 3 years!

At least I’m consistent. I use AdBlock Plus to defend myself against flashing/moving images which cause me problems - and I don’t include ads on any of my own sites.

Accept it for what it is, you can’t rely only on ads for your traffic.

The sites relying on ads for their income don’t normally use it at all for traffic.

I never click the ads on a site. So i’m not bothered about using Adblock. So much better with YouTube.

really? i find youtube very annoying. I put up with their ads as that is how they pay for the royalties etc but i have to listen to the same annoying ads over and over. They aren’t even tailored to what i am listening to, I mostly listen to Rock/Metal and i’ll get an advert for some awful one hit wonder they are trying to push this week. I am not going to be buying Justin beiber or taylor swift music no matter what you use to entice me.

For my website we mainly want to generate some traffic, but the problem is that if users are using adblockers, the gain will be really small,…
if we are lucky, some of our users can see or click on the ads so we can get some $ …

we should set up a new strategy depending on the users and also find another way to generate money.

Thanks !

This topic has its pros and cons. Ads give website owners income but also lots of ads on website can irritate people.
