my biggest fear at the moment is that due to the GFC, it would be hard to get back into a job if the work for yourself option falls over. Even though I have a few months worth of money saved up, its still a scary proposition, especially because a new business brings with it new bills that need to be paid.

I would also say have a great website setup with your portfolio as nicely arranged as possible. I've gotten a couple jobs locked in after the prospect looked at my portfolio.

Thank you so much for this helpful posts! Even though I've been running my own business for a while now, when times are tough and my mood is down, it's always nice to read an optimistic post to help me turn things around. Everything mentioned in that post is true and will help anyone who plans on being successful in running their own company.

I guess many would have faced it...

This I guess is more common in India.

At least in my case..

A Small Town Guy.. Haven't been to an IIT or IIM forget that you are just a plain Graduate among millions of Graduates that India generates every Year...

and then the Recession...

I have stopped sharing Ideas with People who do not have any Entrepreneurial instincts..

No Support from your Family and Friends..

They will ask "What will you do"?
What kind of Business?

I'd like to add that if you find yourself looking out the window wishing you were doing something else then you have not found the career to follow. This is equally true whether you are self-employed or not.

Regarding goals, it is good to review your goals and try to understand the difference between your expectations and reality in the event that the two have not lined up.

My biggest fear is not finding enough clients. That is still a fear (or challenge...) however having a couple of really good clients has helped a lot. More clients would be great but it does take time...
