I’m still using Opera. Opera 10, I tried it, but realised that I should wait for the final release for it to automatically and safely update my opera configurations (I could do it manually, but I don’t want to). Opera 10 was certainly an improvement for me. I still can’t be pryed from Opera. I don’t see any bonus in Firefox’s addons, since I honestly am happy with Operas way of doing things.

I wish though that certain websites would hurry up and become Opera compatible.

I’m not a fan of the turbo feature; I find the degrading of JPEG quality too distracting.

JavaScript benchmarks will differ on system to system. There are so many factors to consider – what else the OS is doing at the time, how many tabs are open, what extensions you have installed, etc.

I tried to make the test as consistent as possible, but who knows what Vista was up to in the background! And, as skunkbad pointed out, virus scanners can make a huge difference.

Yup, I’ve been using the 10 beta since it came out and the AUTO feature on turbo works like a dream. Ok images do look ‘compressed’, but so long as you don’t mind that temporarily then there’s no problem.

At least in my case, I can’t notice the difference in performance. The best performance (or performance gain) I’ve seen is from turning off my anti-virus, or using a non-Windows O/S. It’s amazing how fast my internet browsing experience is when I turn off my anti-virus.

Actually firefox is way slower in the test:

Safari 4.0 – 739.4ms
Opera 10.0 Beta – 3350.4ms
Opera 9.64 – 4352.8ms
Firefox 3.0.10 – 9088.6ms

Opera had the tab previews for quite a few versions before, it is not a new feature.

surprisingly, a few firefox users on my website, http://www.njgunforums.com have switched to opera from the new firefox as ff had issues rendering the pages. After doing a few searchs, apparently has to do with phpbb.

I use Opera Link to sync my bookmarks between Opera installations, so that might prove useful to a few people. Opera Turbo’s automatic setting is great because the feature is turned on only when Opera finds a slow connection. It’s proved useful for me with public hotspots and such.
