Microsoft Wants Ad Volume: Try AOL, Not Yahoo!

According to Steve Ballmer, the reason Microsoft wants Yahoo! is to beef up its advertising volume. If that’s the case, Microsoft should consider AOL as an alternative. AOL’s Platform-A, after all, is the largest ad network online by reach.

MySpace is using Google’s Gears API to allow users to store mail messages locally and then search them in real-time. This week, a Google engineer released an unofficial project to help any web site developer add Gears-powered local search capabilities.

LinkedIn Tries Facebook-Style Ads

LinkedIn launched a new feature called DirectAds that let’s anyone one the site buy targeted text ads. At face value it feels a lot like the under performing “flyers” ad network on Facebook, but LinkedIn’s version will likely do a lot better.
