In my modest opinion, MESHUP is a more global term, the concept of Meshups reach the Glocalization of Networks, not only data if not users, contents, competences, process, standards, protocols, networks, etc.

My last proposal is MeshID an Unique User’s data profile (micro-profile) stored locally (OpenIP) and used globally for enhancing the Consensuality for cooperation on trusted networks (MeshUps)

Thanks for the follow up post, I think it was exactly what this one was missing. The original post seemed to be trying to preach the semantic web to people who already understand (or at least think they do) what it is, without clearly giving them a good reason/example as to why. I found that the examples provided in the follow up help to make the post a bit more meaningful and useful for everyone involved. Looking forward to hearing more about what else people are doing and how more people can get involved.

Okay, I thought for about 1.2 seconds if I should take the bait. Well, I think you can see what I decided. I am in the process of writing a quick follow up post but in the meantime...

ionix5891: Okay, by by buzzword-o-meter count I have a score of 2. That's not so bad is it?

If I was to base most anything in my life on what I learned in university my world would have stopped spinning about 12 years ago. Seriously, this stuff is changing on a weekly basis, same as the Web itself, Google, Yahoo and Reuters can't be wrong can they? The world would really stop spinning if Google was wrong.

Dean C: hmmm... not quite sure how to respond as there is no argument against, just resignation. I would love to debate. Web 3.0 is a *label* or *tag* for the next generation of web tech that is happening now. What do you want to call it?

**UPDATE** the much requested <a href="http://www.sitepoint.com/blogs/2008/03/03/web-30-meshup-style-hold-the-fries-please/" rel="nofollow">follow-up</a> :)

Paul Annesley: Good on ya mate!

right alot of buzzwords and no substance in this article, sounds like semantic web alright

ihad a semantic web module in university, and at the end i was convinced the stuff will never work in real world, too complicated, and caters for machines not users
