Interesting article. I'm not a member of Facebook, having only recently learned that it opened up to people without a .edu email account. I was wondering about some of this.

However, I will echo some of the sentiment expressed by mihd about Facebook: I'm getting sick of the hype. Facebook this, Facebook that.

This leads me to one question: is there any competing with Facebook?

mihd: I think its fair to say the Facebook will not be eclipsed by the next big thing in a few months time.

What's the point of developing on the Facebook platform? For me, it allowed me to create a stock picking competition where I can compete against my friends.

Not only did it add to my resume but its lead to several job offers and has provided additional summer income.
