A worthwhile upgrade, but my feelings are mixed. I was very disappointed that:
1) The UI was not updated like every other CS3 apps. The integrated panels are such a huge improvement - one completely left out of Fireworks CS3.
2) It still runs very slow in Intel. On my MacBook Pro, The PC version runs significantly faster inside Parallels despite the extra overhead.

i was very happy to hear that adobe was continuing fireworks but i am expecting to have heavier software compared to the macromedia version.. Also, installing it to other PCs are very buggy.. most of the time it failed to install.

But the "Adobefied" is also great in some ways.. like the 5 reasons there but what i love most is the better integration with photoshop and illustrator.

I was a little disappointed to hear that its gif output isn't as optimised as FW MX 2004 and FW 8. I hope its png files don't now exhibit the same gamma correction problem that photoshop png files had (or have?).

Couldn't agree with you more. Fireworks is the silent workhorse of the (I can't bear to say the "A" word) formerly Macromedia product line. And with master pages and the ability to flesh out your whole site, it becomes a tool that extends beyond "just graphics". Great post.
