Which would you choose?

I'd say you chose wisely Ian.

just how many of the category winners would be fully accessible sites?

Oh well, I guess at least the winner was a CSS-based site.

Great write-up again!

I am consistently disappointed at SXSW's selection of web finalists. Granted, there are some amazing sites in the batch and there is a lot of innovative design... But it seems to me that their overall critera still smells like the late 90's with flash heavy non-accessable design methodologies. I hit one of this year's nominations in Firefox (with flash) under Ubunto and nothing loaded at all. The general nominations as a whole made me wanna cry... I don't think the judges are looking under the hood and understanding what drives these sites - if it looks snazzy on their power macs, they love it.
