I am consistently disappointed at SXSW’s selection of web finalists. Granted, there are some amazing sites in the batch and there is a lot of innovative design… But it seems to me that their overall critera still smells like the late 90’s with flash heavy non-accessable design methodologies. I hit one of this year’s nominations in Firefox (with flash) under Ubunto and nothing loaded at all. The general nominations as a whole made me wanna cry… I don’t think the judges are looking under the hood and understanding what drives these sites – if it looks snazzy on their power macs, they love it.
