I really enjoyed the conference. I got a lot out of all the sessions... especially Doug Bowman's Zooming Out from the Trenches was really really good. Veen is hilarious!

How kickass are the WE05 bags :)

The session that bugged me the most was the "The Title Attribute: What is it good for?"
My notes from that session consisted of "screen readers suck".

Hmm... I gotta think about the political tact I'm going to have to use to fix one of the "bad" sites I've been involved that scored poorly on the John Allsop's sites that rock list (curse proprietary CMS's).

Anyway.. it was fun to meet those of you I met and drank with :) Now I gotta prep my "what did you learn" report.

Day 2... my head echoed with a pulsating pain induced by cheap jugs of Cooper's Sparkling Ale from the Clare Hotel from the opening night party. Despite that, I soldiered on and managed to soak up more inspiring and informative content from each of the sessions.

The real eye-opener was Derek's accessible crossword. Like WoW :O Also enjoyed John Allsop's look at 'The State of the Web', scoring 83 of Australia's most accessed/popular sites in terms of standards compliance and accessibility. We are doing pretty badly out there in terms of this, so the simple message was 'keep on validating'.

All up it has been a successful and inspiring WE conference. A real credit to all involved, the organisers, presenters and attendees.

Kevin, thanks for these daily summaries. I now know where to get a refresher when the boss asks me 'What did you learn at that web conference?'. Look forward to reading your final summary soon.

Of course, there's always the issue of having to rewrite your valid content (title attribute in an article on PDF accessibility, for example) to accommodate notoriously broken user agents.

Maybe Steve can do that for his own articles rather than, say, mine.

Why is it more important for authors to alter their writing style than for rich manufacturers of adaptive technology to support stable standards?

It's ridiculous that screenreaders don't read title attributes of anchor text, blame the screenreaders, not the webdevelopers.

Thanks for the advice Molly, coincidentally today is last chance for early signup discount at SWSW so it came at the right time :) I saw you're a confirmed speaker there, and I will be looking forward to it.

Kevin, thanks for the great write up! It was a pleasure to meet you and as you know I'm a a big fan of SitePoint's direction and quality. You all do such a great job promoting the grand vision as well as the fine details. Thank you for that.

A minor edit from one editor to another: my last name is spelled "Holzschlag" - not an easy name to spell, I know. I was shocked when in the car the other night on the way to dinner, Maxine Sherrin spelled it off the top of her head. <em>I</em> can't even do that!

Junjun: In terms of level of topic and quality of delegates, SXSW is the closest U.S. experience. The @media conference in the U.K. was a very inspiring experience in that regardn as well.

I really appreciate that you are taking the time to write these in, I'm sure, a very busy and interesting time you could be networking/socializing. What would be a comparable conference here in the U.S? The Web Design World, webvisions, any of the oreilly conferences or maybe sxsv?
