i do hope firebird gets more exposure, and that more apps would use it. i've gotten tired of the lack of features of mysql.

on the other hand, ibwebadmin is significantly DIFFERENT from phpmyadmin and phppgadmin, so caveat emptor

Agreed - Firebird has some interesting functionality. ibWebAdmin is different from phpMyAdmin but also similar in that it is a web gui for Firebird. The functions are surely different for the differing db platforms.

If you don't have to be web based, you might want to give Marathon a look. Its found at gmarathon.sourceforge.net and is a pretty full function interface for Firebird and Interbase.

We just need some indication as to what is ‘missing’ from ibWebAdmin. It does everything I need, except perhaps import from other engines. But then we would probably need full suport for those as well, and THAT would spoil it.

It does have import capabilities - I am acutally trying to find out what the roadmap is to provide some follow up on what would be forthcoming in future releases. You just need an Apache server with PHP support running aside from Firebird/Interbase to use.
