Platform Engineer

Platform Storage Business Area: Infrastructure Location: London Salary: £100,000 Position Overview We are seeking a Platform Compute and Storage (PCS) Specialist to join our global team. The successful candidate will design, build, and maintain compute and storage services that scale to support our growth. This role requires deep knowledge of Linux platforms and distributed storage systems, including performance optimization and capacity management. The ideal candidate will have experience with bare metal, hypervisors, containers, and public cloud platforms. Key Responsibilities Manage systems efficiently at scale through standardization, automation, testing, and monitoring Enforce development standards for source control, testing, and continuous integration Manage a distributed compute environment and petabyte-scale storage systems Install, manage, and monitor the Linux operating system (RHEL-based) Troubleshoot hardware and software issues throughout the stack Work with business owners to prioritize and deliver on objectives Required Qualifications 3 years in a technology infrastructure role, including Linux administration Experience with configuration management tools (Chef, Ansible) Knowledge of distributed storage and protocols (NFS, GPFS, WEKA) Proficient in Python or other high-level languages (Go, Rust, etc.) Experience with version control, agile development, CI/CD Familiarity with observability tools (Elasticsearch, Logstash, Kibana, Datadog, Prometheus, Grafana) Experience with cloud providers (AWS, GCP) Eagerness to learn and adapt Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field Excellent communication skills
