The Role I am working with a global financial institution looking for an experienced lawyer to take the sole lead and be responsible for Cybersecurity/privacy within the EMEA region. This is a unique opportunity for a capable private practice lawyer eager to work in-house for a global institution or an experienced lawyer already within a financial institution looking to step up. Do you wish to act as the Lead for all Cyber/Privacy matters within EMEA? Are you looking for autonomy and an opportunity for clear career progression? The Privacy legal team focuses on cybersecurity, privacy, fraud, and operational matters. You will be a trusted advisor and work closely with the business to support key stakeholders on several issues. The Responsibilities The role will include (but may not be limited to) the following tasks and responsibilities: Support on all privacy, cyber, and fraud matters across the EMEA region Act as a subject expert on privacy and data security law requirements Partnering with stakeholders on complicated privacy and data protection issues, in particular about emerging technologies Advise on requirements and restrictions on the collection, storage, and sharing of client and employee information data localization and data transfer restrictions, including state and banking secrets Advise on restrictions on surveillance, monitoring of electronic communications, and the use of tracking or profiling technologies Lead counsel responding to information security and operational incidents Develop and maintain notices, policies, and privacy and information security procedures consistent with the rules and guidance Maintain current knowledge of applicable EMEA privacy laws and regulations. The Requirements The successful candidate will have the following skills, experience and requirements: 6 PQE (England & Wales qualified) of relevant experience in privacy and cyber matters Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to understand practical solutions to legal problems are a must Polished written and verbal communication skills; the position requires executive presence Ability to work in a group or independent setting International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP) Certification is helpful but optional Technical background and knowledge of information security principles are preferred but optional What is on offer Competitive six-figure base salary Bonus Four days in the office as a minimum Clear career progression and solidify yourself as the lead for a global institution There are many other fantastic benefits If you are a privacy lawyer and seeking an exciting challenge where you gain absolute ownership and autonomy while working on cutting-edge issues for a global financial institution, we would like to hear from you.
