Job Overview: Our client, a leading direct banking institution in Toronto, is urgently seeking an experienced Scrum Master with expertise in digital onboarding to join their team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in agile methodologies and a proven track record in guiding teams through the design, development, and execution of digital banking projects, especially in the onboarding space. You’ll be working closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact products that enhance the user experience for digital banking clients. Key Responsibilities: Agile Coaching & Facilitation: Guide and coach teams on agile best practices, Scrum ceremonies (daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, reviews), and ensure they follow Scrum principles effectively. Digital Onboarding Focus: Act as a subject-matter expert for digital onboarding processes, driving improvements, ensuring smooth user journeys, and enhancing digital customer acquisition. Team Collaboration: Facilitate collaboration between product owners, developers, and business stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital solutions on time and within scope. Sprint Planning & Execution: Work with the team to define and prioritize sprint goals, ensuring successful execution of the sprint and tracking progress against the delivery roadmap. Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies in the agile processes and take initiative to optimize workflows. Foster an environment of continuous improvement across teams. Stakeholder Management: Communicate progress and potential risks to senior leadership and stakeholders, managing expectations and ensuring alignment with business goals. Risk Management: Proactively identify risks and blockers, collaborating with team members to resolve them promptly and maintaining momentum throughout the sprint. Reporting & Metrics: Track key agile metrics (velocity, burndown, lead time) and provide regular reports to leadership on team progress, impediments, and capacity planning. Required Skills and Experience: Experience in Agile Methodologies: Minimum of 8 years of experience as a Scrum Master, with a strong understanding of Agile principles and practices (Scrum, Kanban, Lean). Digital Onboarding Expertise: Proven experience in the digital onboarding space, ideally within the banking or fintech sectors, focusing on improving the digital customer experience and onboarding processes. Certification: Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM I or higher) or equivalent Agile certification. Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, managing expectations effectively. Problem-Solving and Conflict Resolution: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a history of resolving conflicts and fostering a collaborative team environment. Technical Understanding: Familiarity with the tools and platforms used in digital onboarding, such as mobile and web platforms, as well as banking technologies like KYC (Know Your Customer), AML (Anti-Money Laundering), and identity verification systems. Leadership and Coaching: Proven ability to lead teams in an agile environment, provide mentorship to junior team members, and act as a servant leader for the Scrum Team. Preferred Skills: Experience in Financial Services: Direct experience in the banking or financial services sector is a plus, particularly in digital transformation projects or direct banking platforms. Knowledge of DevOps or CI/CD: Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines is beneficial to support continuous delivery. Jira & Confluence: Hands-on experience with project management and tracking tools such as Jira, Confluence, or other similar tools. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Work Environment: Hybrid model (3 days a week in-office at the downtown Toronto location) Collaborative and fast-paced environment with opportunities to work on cutting-edge digital banking initiatives.
