Oracle and MS SQL Database Adminstrator

We’re currently seeking a skilled and experienced ORACLE AND MS SQL DATABASE ADMINISTRATOR to support our client, SaskPower, in a 26-month remote contract starting June 2, 2025. This position plays a critical role in maintaining, optimizing, and securing the organization’s Oracle and MS SQL database environments within the SAP Operations & Enterprise Analytics functional area. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience in database administration, along with system-level knowledge of Microsoft Server, Azure, VMware, and Windows environments. This is a remote role, and while on-call rotation is not expected, occasional adjustments to work hours may be required (within a 40-hour week) to support operational needs outside of standard business hours. Location & Work Hours: • Location: Remote • Start Date : June 2, 2025 • Duration: 26-month contract • Work Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM CST (some flexibility may be required) Functional Area: • SaskPower Functional Area: SAP Operations & Enterprise Analytics Requirements Mandatory Education/Certifications: • Microsoft Certified Professional or equivalent • Oracle Certified Professional or equivalent Mandatory Experience: • 3–5 years of experience with Oracle and MS SQL database administration • Experience supporting projects involving: - Microsoft Server and Azure (system admin perspective) - VMware proficiency - Azure and Windows administration • Experience creating technical documentation and user guides • Experience with security management, including permissions and access control Desired Experience: • Experience in installing and configuring Oracle and MS SQL databases • Setup of database instances, network connectivity, and optimal performance configurations • Performance tuning and optimization using metrics analysis and tuning techniques Desired Education: • 2 to 4 years of formal education (technical diploma or university) Deliverables • Backup and Recovery Plans: Strategies to ensure data integrity and availability • Performance Tuning Reports: Analyzing performance and reporting improvements • Security Configuration Standards: Implementing authentication, authorization, and encryption • Database Health Checks & Monitoring: Routine performance and system health monitoring About the Role: This is a 26-month remote contract commencing June 2, 2025. The selected candidate will support SaskPower’s database infrastructure with a strong focus on performance, security, and operational continuity. Occasional flexibility in work hours may be requested, but overtime is limited, and no on-call rotation is expected.
