Platform Engineer Up to £55,000 - DOE - 12 Month Fixed Term Contract Basingstoke HQ - Hybrid Are you looking to work with a pioneering company in bio metric security within the banking and financial payments industry? Our client, a well-known market leader with a long and successful history, is seeking a talented Platform Engineer to join their talented support team. With a focus on career growth, training, and a supportive environment, this is an opportunity you don't want to miss Key Responsibilities: Technical Support: Provide advanced 2nd and 3rd line IT support, including troubleshooting, diagnosing, and resolving complex issues. Focus on finding the root cause and implementing permanent solutions. Platform Expertise: Work with Linux and Windows platforms, with a willingness to deepen knowledge in both. Manage and optimise public cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform. Visualisation & Storage: Administer visualisation technologies and storage arrays. Patch Management & Backup: Manage patching processes using software like SCCM or Intune, and handle backup concepts and software. Scripting: Develop and maintain scripts using Shell and PowerShell for automation and efficiency. Security & Protection: Oversee endpoint protection and anti-virus management, preferably with SentinelOne. Incident Management: Use commercial Incident, Problem, and Change management tools Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of systems, procedures, and incident resolutions. Provide regular reports as needed. Business Continuity: Understand and apply principles of business continuity and disaster recovery, deploying solutions that ensure high availability of IT services. Experience: Demonstrable experience in 2nd or 3rd line IT support. Experience with Linux and/or Windows platforms. Familiarity with public cloud environments, preferably Google Cloud Platform. Experience with virtualisation technologies (VMware, VxRail, Nutanix). Experience with storage arrays (Dell Compellent, HPE Nimble). Experience with patch management software (Ivanti, SCCM/Intune). Knowledge of backup concepts and software. Experience with Dell and HP server hardware. Proficiency in Shell and PowerShell scripting. Endpoint protection and anti-virus management experience (SentinelOne). Experience with commercial incident, problem, and change management tools (BMC Remedy, Halo preferred). Note: A European passport is required for this role due to travel to UK and European sites.
