Our client is a leading trading firm in London, seeking a Lead Storage Engineer, to join their Research and Development team, which builds and maintains the computers, data storage, OSs, networks and software that enable the firm's trading systems. The position entails defining and managing the storage solution's strategy, throughout the whole lifecycle, leading the team in setting the direction for the Storage Solutions delivery. The successful candidate will be an executive-level Storage Specialist with over 10 years of experience in HPC or related environments, particularly in the hedge fund space. Responsibilities Architect storage solutions that meet the performance, scalability, and reliability needs of HPC environment Collaborate and drive efforts across multiple (internal) cross-functional engineering teams Improve user experience by understanding storage workloads and designing a variety of solutions and tools Forecast future storage needs, research and experiment with new storage solutions Draw insights from a deep understanding of HW Infrastructure and industry trends to inform the roadmap and planning decisions Perform reviews on deliverables and provide guidance to the team leads Troubleshooting of complex storage, OS, and networking issues Integrating storage systems with HPC clusters, ensuring compatibility with existing hardware and software Requirements 10 years of experience in HPC-like environments with multi-PB storage deployments Deep expertise with HPC and scale-out enterprise storage solutions Knowledge of distributed file systems used for large-scale cluster computing (Lustre, CephFS, GPFS, WEKA, etc.) Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills Deep technical understanding of commodity storage technologies and knowledgeable on storage industry trends Deep technical understanding of server architecture, design, and development, with emphasis on power and performance analysis Ability to analyze and solve problems under quick turnaround times Ability to manage time efficiently, balancing independent and collaborative workflows Proficient Python and UNIX/Linux shell scripting
