SeKON is seeking an Application Programmer to support NIH NIDCD IT Services. The Application Programmer is responsible for developing and enhancing multiple applications in an enterprise environment. With over 25 years of experience, SeKON specializes in providing large-scale health IT programs in support of federal government customers including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), Defense Health Agency (DHA), and National Institutes of Health (NIH). REQUIREMENTS Perform design, coding, configuration, and unit testing. Working on problems in several areas, including modernization, system interfaces, scalability with load and capacity, usability and accessibility upgrades, and refactoring. Performing software development with the following technologies: Java, J2EE, Eclipse or NetBeans IDEs, JSP, SOA, XML Beans, Struts/Spring, Hibernate/ibatis, Maven/Ant, WebLogic, Apache Tomcat. Day to day work with multi-tier web-based applications, user interfaces and user interaction. Hands on work with relational databases (Oracle), REST/SOAP Services. Knowledge of XHTML, JSP, JSTL, with CSS styles applied. Employee will be contributing to and consuming Open-Source projects. Utilizing problem solving, troubleshooting, and analytical skills to tackle complex issues. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with Agile and Scrum Experience with project management tools (JIRA) Knowledge of JIRA and version control systems Re-Architecting legacy applications Automation Testing Tools such as JUnit Demonstrated ability to effectively use Microsoft 365 Copilot and other AI-driven tools to enhance productivity in daily development tasks, including writing technical documentation, generating progress reports, summarizing project meetings, and preparing feature presentations. Skilled in guiding team members to leverage Microsoft 365 Copilot to improve collaboration, streamline development workflows, and enhance coding and project management efficiency. REQUIREMENTS: 5 years of software experience, both front and back-end development experience. Bachelor degree in Web Design, IT, Computer Science or related discipline. At least 2 years of experience in developing and maintaining applications. Meticulous attention to detail, ability to be innovative with strong interpersonal skills. Detail oriented and organized in development and documentation. Ability to thrive in a team-based environment. Problem-solving aptitude. Excellent communication skills.
