Our client in the government sector is seeking a contract based IT Facilities Specialist with expertise in fire suppression systems to support and maintain mission-critical IT infrastructure. Duration: 3 - 6 months Location: Hybrid Ottawa Responsibilities: Oversee and maintain IT facility infrastructure with a focus on fire suppression systems (water-based and clean agent). Collaborate with vendors, engineers, and internal teams to ensure fire suppression solutions meet compliance standards (e.g., NFPA, local codes). Conduct inspections, testing, and maintenance of fire suppression systems to ensure optimal performance. Assist in risk assessments and disaster recovery planning related to IT facility fire protection. Work closely with IT and operations teams to minimize risk and ensure continuity of critical systems . Manage facility compliance documentation and ensure adherence to industry regulations. Support IT facility infrastructure projects , including upgrades, retrofits, and new installations. Requirements: 5 years of experience in IT facilities management or data center operations . Expertise in fire suppression systems , including both water-based (sprinkler, pre-action) and clean agent systems (FM-200, Novec 1230, etc.) . Strong knowledge of NFPA, OSHA, and local fire codes . Experience working in high-availability IT environments (data centers, critical infrastructure). Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and upgrade fire suppression and safety systems. Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with cross-functional teams and external vendors. Certifications in fire protection engineering, NFPA standards, or data center facilities management are a plus. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with data center power & cooling infrastructure . Knowledge of emergency response protocols for IT facilities. Familiarity with IT disaster recovery planning and business continuity strategies.
