Database Admin (Contract Position) Number of Positions: 1 Duration: 6 months initial contract, possible extension Location: Burlington, ON, CA Must be eligible to work in Canada Hybrid position 2d/w in office mandatory, may change to more days later on, no-negotiable Roles and responsibilities: Looking to hire a Sr. Consultant, Database Administration and Storage consultant to fulfill the following tasks and responsibilities: Work in our PostgreSQL operations team. Provide on-call support for critical applications. Support a growing environment and migrating to PostgreSQL and GCP Google cloud. Engage in special projects to solve key challenges facing the department. This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned client's office location for a minimum of two days a week. Must have skills/experience/qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems Management or equivalent experience with PostgreSQL Database. Minimum of 5 years of experience with Postgres SQL DBA. Experience with PostgreSQL security (creating users, granting/revoking access, LDAP integration, etc.) and working with community version PostgreSQL version 13 (or higher). 5 years of experience with another database platform such as DB2 and SQL Server. 5 years of experience with streaming and logical replication, HA, Backup and Recovery and Maintenance utilities including setup, configuration and monitoring. Experience investigating/troubleshooting PostgreSQL performance issues with native Postgres catalog and statistics. Solid knowledge of PL/SQL language. Strong knowledge of shell scripting language(s). Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. Exposure to GCP / Google Cloud. Experience with Linux admin, storage admin, network admin. Experience with cluster management tools supporting HA PostgreSQL clusters (Patroni, etc.). Experience with automation tools such as Ansible/Git.
