Principal UI Software Engineer

Job Title: Principal UI Software Engineer Location: London, UK Reporting to: Head of IT Development Role Overview: Our client, a leading financial services group, is seeking a Principal UI Software Engineer to lead the UI team for their flagship trading platform. You will set the technical direction for UI Engineers across multiple teams, driving best practices in development and delivery. This role is hands-on, with leadership and mentoring responsibilities, combining coding expertise with strategic oversight. Key Responsibilities: Lead the platforms UI team, setting high standards for React, Typescript, and JavaScript development. Design, develop, and maintain complex systems, guiding all phases of the SDLC. Communicate architecture and design principles to technical and non-technical stakeholders. Mentor team members through code reviews and provide technical leadership. Collaborate on risk management and issue escalation. Drive agile development using tools like JIRA and ensure best practices across teams. Experience & Skills: Essential: Strong experience with React, Typescript, JavaScript, and UI libraries like Material UI or Ant Design. Expertise in CSS preprocessors, testing frameworks, and build tools (e.g., Jest, Webpack). Familiar with Git, Agile development, and responsive design. Excellent communication and leadership skills.
