Lead Data Engineer | Microsoft & Azure Stack | Data AI Consultancy Lead position: hands on engineering/architecture consulting/customer engagement £90k-120k benefits package I’m working with a fast-growing data consulting firm on the frontier of AI. They were established in 2020, have 10 employees and are growing fast. The Founder and leadership team come from an impressive background having worked for prestigious companies. They are now growing their Microsoft & Azure-focused consultancy and adding more numbers to their well-established client base in the eCommerce, retail, and finance space. As the Lead Data Engineer, you will head up the data practice for the firm in a role that is both hands-on and also client-facing and consultative. This position is ideal for someone eager to engage with customers and serve as the 'face' of the firm and data team. You'll work closely with 3-5 skilled consultants within a flat structure, where you will have the autonomy to influence strategic decisions, guide projects, and help shape the direction of the team. The aim is to scale from their current £100 million size to half a billion-sized clients. This role offers the opportunity to drive growth while maintaining a dynamic and fast-paced work environment. Technical skills: Robust skills in data engineering and hands-on experience implementing technical solutions Proficiency in Microsoft and Azure technologies (Azure, Fabric, Factory, ETL, SQL, BI, etc) Ability to work from the basics, including building data platforms, ETL, integrations, pipeline building, support frameworks, analytics reporting, and AI (Gen AI and OpenAI). You don't need to tick all boxes - opportunities for learning and growth will be provided. Previous consultancy experience is highly desirable. Current Lead Data Engineer OR hunger to grow into such a leadership role. It will a bonus if you are a technically strong leader who can also interface with clients, lead engagements, and bring in work for them. Their ideal candidate needs to be ambitious, eager to grow, and drive new projects, starting in the UK and expanding to the EU and US.
