Data Engineer
My name is Bill Stevens, and I have a new full time Data Engineer opportunity available for a major firm located in Raleigh, North Carolina that could be of interest to you, please review my specification below and I am available at any time to speak with you so please feel free to call me. The work schedule will be hybrid, three days a week in the office and two days remote.
The ideal candidate should reside within one hour of Raleigh, North Carolina and also possess a green card or be of citizenship. The firm will entertain a candidate who currently possesses their I-140 or I-485 documentation as well.

The firms US team is looking for a Data Engineer to support the development and maintenance of scalable data stores that supply big data in forms needed for business analysis. The ideal Data Engineer will lead the engineering work to align with the approved solution architecture and the firms digital roadmap to comply with the firms internal technical standards. This individual will provide expertise as a technical resource to solve complex business issues translating data integration and database systems design as well as provide support and services on new initiatives.
Responsibilities:
Prepare high-level and detailed technical specifications for the projects in accordance with security, and architecture documentation objectives
Develop detailed plans and accurate estimates for the completion of the build, system testing, and implementation phases of a project
Running and optimizing SQL queries on RDBMS such as MS SQL server, MySQL and MariaDB
Architect, design, and implement solutions that meet the stakeholder’s needs
Participate actively in requirements gathering, data modeling, and design sessions
Develop, code, document, and execute unit tests, systems, integration and acceptance tests, and testing tools for functions of high complexity
Test, and maintain detailed programs according to specifications given by computer software engineers and systems analysts of the firm
Requirements:
Minimum of five years of experience in software engineering or analytics in creating enterprise data architectures, distributed and microservice software architectures and design patterns
More than two years of application development experience in Hadoop, NoSQL databases such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or HBase
Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or relevant experience
Core SQL database concepts, including creating DDL, DML scripts, normalization, running, and optimizing SQL queries on RDBMS such as MS SQL server
Working knowledge of Hadoop Data Lake tools, specially HIVE or DataMeer and Snowflake
Prior experience with Liquibase, Git code repos such as GitHub
Pluses for this role:
Knowledge of the following: Python, Java, Bash and shell scripting
Working knowledge of MapReduce or Spark
Experience using Stone Branch or Tableau
