From optimizing strategic ad placements to ensuring seamless communication via chat features, you will play a crucial role in refining their high-traffic application. Your expertise will be vital in solving complex issues and managing unexpected challenges. Additionally, you'll mentor and inspire junior developers, driving innovation with the latest technologies. Location: Fully Remote / Hybrid (UK) Reports to: Engineering Manager Contract Type: Permanent Key Responsibilities: Collaborate with, mentor, and guide fellow engineers and team members. Mitigate technical risks while ensuring high-quality outputs. Oversee the technical components of projects from start to finish. Lead project analysis, design, implementation, and commissioning, providing both technical and functional insights. Ensure thorough testing of deliverables, including automated tests following the Test Pyramid concept, and conduct system acceptance testing to maintain rapid yet high-quality development practices. Conduct system failure analysis and recommend corrective actions. Communicate across different engineering functions to manage the delivery of cross-platform projects. Work with Project Managers and Development Leads to prioritize squad technical debt and security tasks within SLAs. Serve as a technical point of contact for cross-team technical initiatives. Requirements: Over 8 years of full-time software development experience, or equivalent. At least 3 years of experience developing high-traffic systems. Proficiency in designing and managing User/Messaging Moderation Systems. Proven experience with third-party API integrations and familiarity with OpenAPI standards. Extensive Java 11 development experience. Expertise in messaging-based services like GCP Pub/Sub and Confluent Kafka. In-depth understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) in collaborative, cross-functional environments. Strong skills in Infrastructure as Code (IaaC), particularly with Kubernetes, Docker, and Helm Charts in a GCP setting. Experience in setting up and optimizing CI/CD pipelines. Knowledge of security practices including Threat Modelling, OWASP standards, GDPR compliance, SonarCloud analysis, DAST, and Container scanning. Strong analytical and communication skills. Excellent organizational and leadership abilities. Proficiency in various software development methodologies. Experience in decomposing monolithic architectures and designing complex systems using message-oriented microservice architectures. Familiarity with GCP Monitoring Dashboard and Alerting functionalities. Desirable Skills: Experience with Java 17. Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code technologies like Terraform. Background in SRE or similar infrastructure roles. Working knowledge of Scala. Experience with Pact Contract Testing. Knowledge of ElasticSearch.
