Principal Engineer / Principal Software Engineer / Chief Engineer / Staff Software Engineer Tangible impact on future and current Human Life £150k-£250k Per Annum We are looking for a Principal Engineer to join a leader in Embodied AI and Driverless cars. You will join a company that focus on intelligent, mapless, agnostic technologies whcih empower vehicles to navigate our roads (B, A & M roads). The company are at scale-up phase and are growing exponentially, they are looking for an experienced Principal Engineer to join their already world-class, multinational team of engineers as they push the boundaries of frontier artificial intelligence and autonomous, driverless cars. Responsibilities of the Principal Engineer: Building software with both embedded and distributed infrastructure on one side, and machine learning (training and inference) and robotics use cases on the other side Technical strategy, contribution to definition and execution of engineering roadmaps System Architecture & Design; making technical decisions involving serviceability, sustainability Ensuring software engineering best practices are followed (design, code & test) Being a leader/technical mentor to all tech colleagues across the software engineering team (including managers and tech leads) Experience of the Principal Engineer: Experience leading projects spanning 20 team members (engineering) Deep understanding of system software which includes hardware level to distributed systems Experience delivering complex systems into production, and supporting them post-production Experience communicating with senior stakeholders including executives Tech agnostic, experience in several OO Languages is desirable but not essential They utilise languages such as C++, Rust, Python, Java - any experience of these is a massive plus.
