Job Summary: We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Software Developer to join our team. The Software Developer will work on the integration and development of ECOSphere, with a particular focus on Java and the incorporation of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) solutions. The Software Developer will be a crucial player in the integration and development of the ECOSphere system. They will work closely with cross-functional teams, data scientists, reporting engineers, conservation experts, and IT professionals to enhance and expand the functionality of ECOSphere applications to integrate with COTS solutions. This will help drive data-driven decision-making in species conservation, with a particular focus on threatened and endangered species, migratory birds, fisheries, and refugees at the customer's location. Responsibilities: Integration of COTS Solutions: Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and implement solutions that enhance the functionality of ECOSphere. Integrate these solutions seamlessly into the system, ensuring a cohesive user experience. Software Development: Develop, maintain, and enhance software components of the ECOSphere system using Java, .net, Python, or others. Create scalable and efficient solutions that support the needs of conservation biologists and meet the requirements of the customer. Collaboration: Work closely with the DDI engineering team, data scientists, and conservation experts to understand their needs and translate them into technical solutions. Foster a collaborative environment to achieve integration and development goals. API Development: Design and implement APIs to facilitate data exchange and communication between ECOSphere and external systems or partners. Quality Assurance: Conduct rigorous testing and debugging to ensure the reliability and robustness of software components, including COTS integrations and Java-based functionalities. Documentation: Create and maintain technical documentation, including API specifications, architecture, and integration guidelines, to ensure effective knowledge sharing and future support. Security and Compliance: Ensure that all software solutions adhere to data security, privacy, and compliance requirements, working in alignment with relevant regulations and industry best practices. Performance Optimization: Continuously monitor and optimize the performance of the ECOSphere software components and COTS integrations to ensure the efficient operation of ECOSphere. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus. Proven experience as a Software Developer with expertise in Java and COTS integrations. Strong knowledge of software development methodologies, API design, and best practices. Experience working on cloud-based systems, preferably in AWS or similar systems. Familiarity with conservation or biology-related projects is advantageous but not required.
