Research Data Analyst - Buy-side - Newcastle

Our client, a leading financial firm, is seeking a talented and experienced Research Data Analyst to join their team. If you have a strong background in data management and analysis and are eager to contribute to cutting-edge research, this role could be your perfect fit. Key Responsibilities: Data Trials and Subscriptions : Set up data trials and manage subscriptions of alternative datasets for research economists. Data Ingestion and Publication : Ingest and publish datasets using the Data Team’s platform, leveraging Databricks and Dremio. Data Quality Management : Maintain and extend the data quality check library and monitor vendor data quality to improve performance. Data Analysis : Perform data analysis using Python, Jupyter, SQL, and Tableau. Dashboard and Visualization : Produce dashboards and visualizations to support research activities. Data Scouting : Scout for new data sources, profile vendors, and provide feedback to economists about the data landscape. Work Planning : Plan and prioritize work according to company objectives. Status Reporting : Provide regular status updates to internal stakeholders. Mandatory Requirements: Buyside Data Experience : At least 3 years of data experience working for a buyside firm. Technical Proficiency : Strong coding skills in SQL and Python. Data Management Knowledge : Demonstrated understanding of how organizations consume, lifecycle, and manage their data. Proactive Learning : Shows initiative and willingness to learn. Communication Skills : Clear and concise communication style. Preferred Qualifications: Fast-Paced Environment : Experience working in a fast-paced environment. Developer Collaboration : Experience collaborating with developers. Research Data Expertise : Experience working with alternative and macroeconomic research datasets, and familiarity with vendors such as Macrobond, Haver, Bloomberg, etc. Advanced Excel Skills : Proficiency in advanced Excel functionalities.
