IT Systems Specialist Civica UPM/ Pensions Remote/Hybrid Working with 2 days in Preston, Lancashire Fully Home working contracts will be considered for candidates living 50 miles from our offices in Preston, with occasional travel to Preston required. Salary £40k 60k DOE 37 hours a week A glance at the role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced IT Systems specialist to join our growing Technology and Innovation department in our Applications Team. You will work in the Systems Team, reporting to the Application Team Lead and liaising with the Pension Systems Development Manager, using their extensive knowledge and experience to lead on the development of the current Pension System Application, to implement improvements to ensure that it meets the requirements of a successful third-party pension administrator. What youll be doing: - Working with the Pension Administration teams to review current business processes used within UPM and using extensive experience and knowledge identify and implement improvements and efficiency savings. - Developing automation and bulk processing capabilities within workflows for LGPS, Fire and Police schemes, engendering identifiable efficiency savings. - Developing a portfolio of BDIs to improve LPPAs support capability and lessen the need to rely on the third-party provider of the Pension Administration application. - Using extensive knowledge to develop and mentor the Systems Team covering areas such as SQL, BDIs and understanding the solving of complex calculation issues. - Keeping up to date with the latest UPM developments and best practice. - System/Training Documentation Version Controlled. - Liaising with other schemes using UPM to share knowledge and suggest improvements to Civica. - Representing Working Groups & UPM internal group. - Complying with LPPAs Data Protection and Information Security policies and any relevant GDPR legislation. What we need from you: - Extensive recent experience in the support and development of workflows in a pension administration system, ideally UPM. - The ability to evaluate issues and challenges effectively to create and deliver solutions that improve processes and attitudes within a team environment, including logical thinking and problem-solving skills. - The ability to take the lead on complex changes providing a range of solutions. - To encourage best practice within the team, taking ownership of issues and suggesting improvements to workflows. - To support team members with less experience, nurturing their development. - To display excellent verbal and written communication skills, be able to use evidence and knowledge to support accurate, expert decisions and advice to support LPPA objectives. - Attention to detail and innovative thinking skills. - To be self-motivated and decisive, with the ability to adapt to change and competing demands. - The ability to represent the LPPA at external meetings and working groups. - To be confident and comfortable in implementing and driving change in a team within a dynamic work environment to deliver results. - The proven ability to work effectively on own initiative whilst promoting positive behaviour and attitudes. - To demonstrate the ability to plan workloads, ensuring deadlines are met. - To always be committed to providing great customer service. - To be resilient and people centric at all times. - To set and apply LPPA wide standards for stakeholder service and champions a service culture with a focus on how things are achieved as well as what is achieved. - To embrace change and see it as an opportunity, not a threat - An awareness of risks within the immediate work area and understanding contingencies in place.
