Head of Product Engineering - London or Manchester, Hybrid Working We are partnering with a dynamic and growing Health-Tech company as they look to bring on board an experienced Head of Product Engineering for their UK-based engineering team. Partnering with their senior leadership team, you'll have a real opportunity to impact this organisation as they embark on their journey to becoming known for their cutting-edge HealthTech products This pivotal leadership role will drive the transformation of the engineering team from both a technical and culture perspective, guiding a team of 30-40 in engineering towards a product tech-focused model, and will play a central part in shaping the future of both products and technologies as part of a broader "tech-first mindset" strategy. This is an exciting time to join the business as it scales following a series of strategic acquisitions. Combining both strategy and technical excellence, this position will require someone who has expertise in fostering a strong engineering culture, with a people-first mindset, but also has a track record of working within software engineering roles within product development environments. Role Purpose: Lead a high-performing engineering team focused on product development and innovation. Drive cultural change and implement a new level of engineering excellence across the UK engineering team. Some key projects will be the transformation of monolithic to microservices architecture, moving to AWS, and creating a new team structure (Spotify model), moving towards a "Product-Tech" mindset, becoming a technology first organisation Set clear performance goals, foster an inclusive team culture, and drive the team to maintain high standards of technical quality and operational efficiency. Align the engineering roadmap with business goals and help the business move towards its ambition of becoming a “tech-first” organisation. Play a key role in delivering high-quality off-the-shelf products through technical leadership and cross-functional collaboration. Oversee the successful delivery of product features, technical solutions, and customer implementations. Ensure alignment of engineering practices, tools, and methods with the Technology Strategy across other areas (APAC). Provide technical guidance and leadership while ensuring the team is equipped to meet their goals and deliver world-class products. About you: Proven experience in product tech organisations, with a focus on development of off-the-shelf products. Experience driving culture within an engineering function of 30-50 engineers, ideally after mergers/acquisitions. Strong technical background in software engineering (Java, AWS, microservices architecture). Expertise in cloud environments and transitioning on-premise products to the cloud. Exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills with experience managing and developing diverse engineering teams. In-depth knowledge of security, scalability, and performance optimisation within engineering solutions. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills, particularly under pressure.
