Senior Technical Artworker ROLE OVERVIEW As part of our integrated Studio, the Senior Technical Artworker supports the artwork builds of various corporate communication projects, including print, interactive PDFs, presentations, online content, and branding assets, whilst providing a problem-solving and troubleshooting service for our Studio systems and services. This role requires regular interactions with clients and colleagues, and the ability to effectively manage and prioritise multiple tasks simultaneously. You’ll also be responsible for the day-to-day management and support of 1-2 individuals within the Artwork team. With relevant and detailed software, digital and print production knowledge, you'll deliver high-quality work to deadline with an exceptional eye for detail, strong technical artwork skills, and meticulous adherence to processes. You thrive on problem solving and troubleshooting file malfunctions, and have a passion for working with tables, styles and the deepest features and functions of InDesign. You have a logical, methodical approach to your work, are first to explore new software features and know all the shortcuts to deliver work efficiently. Effective communication is paramount, as you engage with stakeholders, offering agile, solution-focused approaches. You’ll be a critical thinker who will seek to understand the work you’re delivering in order to improve it. In quieter periods, you’ll work to develop your own skills, support the development of others, figure out innovative and automated ways of working, explore and test new technologies, and continuously aim to improve. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Prepare and build artwork document shells based on Creative assets and templates, ensuring all styles and parent pages are properly configured and work adheres to corporate and brand styles, designs and guidelines Build and maintain interactive PDFs, PowerPoint presentations ancillary documents and other related reporting deliverables for print and digital delivery Fine tuning and efficient build of technical content such as financial tables and graphs, using style sheets and templates where appropriate Link and style Word & Excel documents into InDesign files via a dynamic linking plugin Prepare files for our customer Self-Edit solution, optimising the build for the best client experience, and ensuring all security processes and requirements are followed Technical build and checks of client Self-Edit desktops to the approved process, documenting the setup appropriately Troubleshoot and problem solve internal and client technical issues with file crashes, errors and document outputs, in line with file management and security processes Provide regular project updates, proactively highlighting potential issues and promptly escalating any risks to delivery Contribute to improvement initiatives and support training and development of less experienced colleagues. Lead documentation of relevant department processes, staying informed on trends. Collaborate with other departments, offering mentorship and proactive support. Responsible for overseeing and supporting 1-2 individuals within the Artwork team. Quality check and sign off studio artwork and ensure quality control Engage with and support the wider business, proposing technical solutions, staying informed on new technologies, and offering innovative solutions to challenges Provide excellent service, resolving queries and finding solutions. Communicate regularly and effectively, ensuring stakeholders are kept informed. Adhere to all business processes, housekeeping and workflows. SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES Minimum 4 years’ experience in a similar environment, ideally with experience of working with long documents and/or corporate communications. Qualification in Graphic Design/Visual Communications or equivalent experience. Thorough knowledge of artwork techniques, print, and digital PDF processes, using a structured and methodical approach. Excellent organisational skills with the ability to keep track of multiple activities, prioritise and efficiently switch between tasks. Experience of managing or overseeing colleagues. Exceptional eye for detail with high quality standards. Familiarity with simple coding (GREP, HTML, CSS) and understanding of file management and artwork-related housekeeping is advantageous. Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (ideally including InCopy) and Microsoft Office Suite. Detailed knowledge of the technical features of Adobe InDesign including styles, table functions, GREP and scripts. Confident and clear communicator, comfortable presenting to and training others Collaboration skills, able to build long term relationships with clients and colleagues.
