Shipping Engine owns computation of eligibility for shipping offers and shipping charges for all Amazon.com websites, Amazon.com affiliates and 3rd Party sellers including Fulfillment by Amazon, Checkout by Amazon, Webstore by Amazon and Product Advertisement sellers. Shipping offerings and shipping charges are computed for billions of items for Amazon’s worldwide business and the results are surfaced to our buying customers in all marketplaces in all regions. Our services are architected to handle complex computation and process approx. 2 billion transactions per hour.

The team's main focus is innovation in the customer experience and building the next generation platform which will serve the needs for fast growing selection of items on Amazon.com and new business ventures.

You will join talented engineers responsible for supporting numerous clients across the Enterprise.

Key job responsibilities:

  1. Translation of complex functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design.
  2. Responsible for portions of the systems architecture, scalability, reliability, and performance.
  3. Lead software developers in design, implementation and methodology.
  4. Be hands-on, participate in designs, reviews, develop code.
  5. Responsible for real-time operational support of the team’s functional areas.
  6. Maintain current technical knowledge to advance thought leadership and technology breakthroughs.
  7. Must be able to work with a minimum of technical supervision and supplemental engineering support, while responding efficiently to multiple program priorities.
  8. Works well in a team environment and be able to effectively drive cross-team solutions that have complex dependencies and requirements.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
  • 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
  • Experience programming with at least one software programming language.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
