Position: Technical Support Service Engineer

Department: Engineered Services Department

Primary Objective of Position:

The Technical Support Service Engineer is responsible for providing technical support related to motors, generators, controls, software, and related WEG products; helps to ensure the smooth operation of shipped product and systems; creates and processes warranty claims and drives preventative actions.

Major Areas of Accountability:

  1. Provides technical support to customers, interfacing with the engineering, commercial, and quality teams as necessary.
  2. Resolves service requests and promotes strong customer relationships.
  3. Analyzes field data, recommends corrective action, and writes and edits service reports related to warranty work.
  4. Creates and processes warranty claims.
  5. Organizes and coordinates inspection, analysis, and disposition of returned equipment, parts, and material.
  6. Liaison between the sales force, customers, users, and factory; providing technical information and assistance to sales offices, customers, and users.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Four (4) year B.S. degree in Electrical, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering.
  2. Proficient in Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Outlook and SAP (preferred).
  3. Demonstrated sense of urgency to affect timely response and resolution to customer requests.
  4. Strong interpersonal skills, and ability to connect with internal and external customers.
  5. Effective communication (written and verbal) with internal and external customers.
  6. Demonstrated ability to effectively deal with difficult internal and external customers.
  7. Demonstrated project management skills, including direction of technical and non-technical staff, and customers.
  8. Ability to make recommendations regarding job methods.
  9. Ability to prioritize workload and shift work activities; to meet business needs and department goals.
  10. Demonstrated capability for social interface; internal and external customers as required, achieving customer satisfaction excellence.

Physical Requirements:

  1. Physical ability to travel freely within manufacturing and office facilities; climbing stairs and ladders, scaffolding or catwalks to service machinery.
  2. Ability and willingness to wear fall protection equipment.
  3. Physical ability to travel via public, commercial or personal transportation.
  4. Must possess an insurable driver’s license and a valid Passport.
