Title: Data Engineer Pay: $45-50/hr Length: 5-month contract – opportunities for conversion (if in Canada) or extension Location : Remote Canada or US (EST working hours) Interviews: 2 rounds Must Haves: Strong experience as an ex-Amazon employee. (contract, AWS, audible, any amazon umbrella branches) 4 years of Data Engineer experience 4 years of experience with Python. Be able to pass a technical test, maybe former SRE Experience with Amazon Redshift. Proficiency in SQL, data modelling, database administration. Building and optimizing queries for large datasets (20M records). Experience in building and optimization of ETL pipelines involving large volumes (PB) of data. Experience with DataLakes Expertise in any of the scripting languages and AWS technologies like Step Functions, Lambda, SNS, SQS, S3, Kinesis, FireHose, Glue, IAM Roles. Proficiency in PostgreSQL and MySQL. Strong Computer science background required. A bachelor’s degree or higher in computer science or equivalent is required. Good interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work with different teams for sourcing data. Ability to learn fast, work independently. Strong English skills (written and verbal.) Plusses: Apache Airflow AWS pipeline experience Day-to-day: Insight Global is seeking an experienced data engineer to join a marketing data analytics team to build and maintain the database infrastructure using software engineering best practices, data management fundamentals, data storage principles, recent advances in distributed systems, and operational excellence best practices. This is a fully remote position with EST working hours, but we’re open to candidates from across Canada and the US. The client works with some of the leading technology companies in North America, providing them with high-quality software solutions that integrate both mobile and web experience. The successful candidate will work closely with stakeholders to understand their requirements and design the right solution. They will also work closely with other teams, analyze source systems, define underlying data sources and transformation requirements, design suitable data models, and document the design/specifications. The successful candidate needs to build and maintain systems and datasets that analysts and scientists use to generate actionable insights. They should demonstrate a passion for quality and productivity by using efficient development techniques, standards, and guidelines. Additionally, they will conduct peer reviews of work and actively mentor more junior members of the team, improving their skills, their knowledge of our systems, and their ability to get things done.
