Principal Systems Engineer Location: Surrey £70,000 - £80,000 How would you like to work for a global leader who specialises in protection solutions? This is a brilliant and unique opportunity for a motivated, Principal Systems Engineer to join and become a key player in a rapidly expanding company. The successful candidate will be experienced in translating system requirements to innovative electronics design solutions, leading to successful customer acceptance within project timescales and budget What you’ll do Undertake and monitor design activities at the equipment, system, and software levels, making sure that strict test procedures are in place to verify these. • Serve as the technical authority for the project and support the project managers on all technical matters. Comply with technical specifications at every stage of design, integration, and customer acceptance. Create technical documentation, such as test plans, requirements, and procedures, to support the project's development and deliverables. Lead and oversee the engineering development teams working on firmware, software, and hardware to make sure that system designs meet operational performance standards. Approval and assessment of technical records. Setting up and leading customer project design reviews, as well as participating in them. Providing direction, leadership, and mentorship to your multidisciplinary engineering team. Keep an eye on and forecast technical, scientific, and engineering developments to continuously enhance the company offering. Assist in the development of the business by seeing possibilities and creating technical solutions and recommendations. Assisting the company's internal research and development efforts to improve engineering quality, cost, and efficiency. What you’ll need Proven track record of completing difficult system design, implementation, testing, and integration in the highly regulated military industry or a related field. Complete system lifecycle experience, including design, development, testing, integration, and acceptance. An understanding of contemporary C++, Java, and C# program design approaches. Understanding of firmware design principles and sophisticated electronics. Strong technical knowledge of military-grade COTS communication and sensor systems. Be able to manage, motivate and develop engineering employees to ensure they fulfil their roles and meet targets within agreed timelines and standards of quality.
