One of the vacancies is for an AI Risk Engineering Manager – a new and uniquely impactful role focused on guiding AI product development through the lens of risk management and ethical practice. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: The AI Risk Engineering Manager will play a crucial role at OVO in safeguarding the organisation against the potential risks associated with the use of artificial intelligence in products they develop as well as those they buy from partners and vendors. It is a highly technical position, requiring a deep understanding of AI technologies, data privacy, and risk management principles. You will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating risks related to AI usage, with a particular focus on data protection and ethical AI practices. RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: • AI Risk Assessment: Conduct detailed risk assessments of all third-party products and services that apply to AI, evaluating potential risks to data privacy, security, and ethical considerations • Data Protection: Ensure compliance with all relevant data protection regulations, including GDPR and other applicable laws • Vendor Management: Work closely with Procurement and vendors to understand their AI practices and ensure they meet our risk management standards • Incident response: Build and deploy an incident response plan for AI-related risks, including data breaches and algorithmic bias • Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate AI risks, including technical controls, contractual agreements, and employee training • Policy Development: Contribute to the development and maintenance of AI risk and management policies and procedures • Monitoring & Reporting: Continuously supervise AI risks and provider regular reports to senior management including the Monthly AI Council ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE: • Technical expertise: Strong technical background in AI, machine learning and data privacy • Risk Management: Proven experience in risk management, preferably in a technology or data-centric environment • Data Protection: Proven experience of data protection regulations and best practices • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills • Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, able to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field, such as computer science, engineering or mathematics.
