We are looking for an experienced front-end developer to join our team. The work undertaken within this role is varied and exciting. We regularly collaborate on projects with industry-renowned design and branding agencies to bring unique and progressive design ideas to life. We are centrally located in an attractive part of the city, allow hybrid working and promote a happy and relaxed atmosphere, whilst encouraging a dynamic approach to each task and creative problem solving. We’d like to see you at least once a month but welcome anyone who wants to work in the office more frequently. The successful applicant will enjoy working with clients from all over the world, with work recently undertaken for businesses based in London, New York, San Francisco, Dubai and the French Riviera. Applicants for this role will ideally have at least three years experience building responsive websites from supplied design files, using semantic HTML5, JavaScript, SASS/CSS and JS frameworks such as Vue or React. A familiarity with NextJS and/or NuxtJS are an advantage, as is experience in extracting assets and generating SVGs from Adobe XD or Figma. We predominantly use headless content management systems (such as DatoCMS or Sanity) in our builds. However, we as a company are keen to always use the best available technology for each client and project, so experience with any CMS will be beneficial. A working knowledge of WordPress and PHP would be advantageous, but not essential to the role. A strong interest in emerging web technologies is a must. An understanding of component-based web development is essential, as is a desire to learn and push the boundaries of your development capabilities. This role will require acute attention to detail and the ability to integrate the latest front-end technologies into your development tasks on a regular basis. Our UX designer or one of the many design agencies we collaborate with on a regular basis will provide responsive artwork. Pixel-perfect websites must be developed, with clean, concise code, that adhere to the latest standards. Research and development is regularly required in this role, and on occasion team members will be asked to assist the Directors in preparing timing estimates for projects based on a supplied brief and/or artwork. The successful candidate will have the ability to manage their own projects and workload, be comfortable with communicating directly with clients and keen to integrate themselves into a growing and experienced team, based in our Exeter studio. A three month probationary period will lead to permanent employment, if successful. Please send an email with your CV, covering letter and portfolio of work to ushamblyfreeman.com. Strictly no recruitment agencies. All candidates should include links to their portfolio and/or live examples of their work.
