We are looking for great engineers to join the team responsible for the flagship Exclaimer Cloud SaaS (Software as a Service) solution, utilizing the latest technologies in our push to expand the product’s functionality and evolve the technical platform. As part of the platform team, this role is expected to act as a technical leader within the team, working alongside a team of like-minded engineers you will be given the freedom to identify and deliver real world improvements to our application platform, and help shape future technical direction. Working with other key technical leaders across the wider engineering team to ensure the stability, observability and useable product platform, serving the needs of both internal and external customers. Key Responsibilities Delivery of incremental bodies of the work that meet the departmental quality standards. Work with the platform and development teams to define solutions to the customers problems and identify increments that allow the earliest possible release of value. Being hands on with the technology and helping to drive the technical direction of the platform through creation of exemplars and definition of internal best practices. Be an individual contributor to the implementation of high quality, well tested and peer reviewed solutions, setting an example to the team around you. Provide mentoring on technical practices to the platform team and drive improvements in the ways of working. Define technical approach and leading day to day initiatives in the platform team. Working with the platform engineers, engineering managers and development team to ensure technical approach is in line with platform strategy and industry best practices. Identify and incorporate innovative technologies that improves the speed of delivery, security, and observability of the platform. Driving improvements to technical best practices and bringing technical best practices from the wider industry to Exclaimer. While ensuring that departmental best practices around security, cost, monitorability and approach are maintained. Identification and correction of impediments to the team's ability to deliver. Skills Knowledge and Expertise Be an experienced platform engineer working across the latest technologies. Be passionate about platform role with a background in engineering, with a strong knowledge of development and technical principles, methodologies, and values. Be a hands-on platform engineer with ability to guide, unblocking the platform team and fulfil a technical hands-on role for key projects and proof of concepts. Act as a point of technical escalation and knowledge with-in the team. Experience working with Azure and associated technologies, including Azure DevOps, YAML pipelines and Docker containers running under AKS (Azure Kubernetes Service). Experience of key technologies utilized by Exclaimer; Kubernetes, Helm, IaC (Terraform), SQL (MSSQL/Postgres/MySQL), experience with some object-oriented languages like C# or Python, Scripting in PowerShell or Bash, Observability platform (Datadog), Docker/general containerisation building and running best practices. Experience maintaining high volume 24/7 platforms processing high volumes of API traffic. Experience implementing robust monitoring and alerting strategies to ensure issues are quickly identified and resolved, and impact on customers is minimized. Being part of and leading on-call/incident management teams and creation and usage of playbooks to drive consistent resolution of platform issues. Making use of automatic deployment and roll-back technologies coupled with a CI/CD process. Ensuring that solutions created that work inside the agreed budget or present ROI justification for increased budget cost. Actively identify and investigate cost savings that can be made to the platform. History of working in fast-paced SaaS business delivering high frequency incremental delivery of customer facing functionality.
