Staff Firmware Engineer We are working with a global leading software hardware development group who are looking to add experts in Firmware Engineers to their team in Bristol. Your primary responsibility will include maintenance, support, and development of system software for Computing Infrastructure solutions, as the company provides world class solutions for datacenters around the world. This is a permanent role with the team in Bristol and will require at least 2 days a week onsite presence. The team is open to both junior and senior profiles as they look to grow the team significantly. Responsibilities for this Firmware Engineer role: Support and maintain downstream product quality firmware for Neoverse CSS based platform solutions. Serve as the primary interface to all customers for support and maintenance requirements. Manage defects, including back porting and fixing. Coordinate downstream release updates with the release team for post-launch releases. Collaborate with the firmware development team on design and development of solutions for Neoverse CPU and System IP based Infrastructure platforms. Required Skills for this Firmware Engineer role: C Programming Expertise: Expert in C programming for embedded systems with exceptional debugging skills. Firmware Development: Experience in developing and maintaining high-quality firmware, with a strong understanding of bootloaders and device drivers. Defect Management: Proven ability to effectively triage and manage defects in system software. Industry Standards Compliance: A good understanding of and experience maintaining software that complies with industry specifications like UEFI and ACPI. Technology Familiarity: Knowledge of technologies such as RAS, hypervisors, CXL, power management, and security. Additional requirements that would benefit your profile: Server Firmware Support: Experience in providing support and maintenance for production-quality firmware in the server segment. Open-Source Community Experience: Familiarity with open-source communities, including understanding of project development cycles and contribution processes. Customer Support: Proven ability to provide effective customer support by triaging and resolving reported issues. Open-Source Project Familiarity: Knowledge of open-source projects such as Linux Kernel, TF-A, UEFI EDK II, and OpenBMC.
