Senior Front-End Developer Location: Office based (Clerkenwell) Eligible is on a mission to eliminate financial anxiety and distress for every mortgage customer. Eligible empowers customer decision making by providing real-time information and education to >1,000,000 mortgage customers holding >£100bn in mortgages from some of the largest financial institutions in the UK. We are looking for an energetic and motivated Senior Front-End Developer to join our growing Engineering team. As a Senior Front-End Developer at Eligible, you'll have the opportunity to work on modern web applications used by mortgage owners and lenders, participate in product design, and develop new features using TypeScript and React. Eligible has >1,000,000 consumers on system and >£100bn in mortgages which it manages through its partnerships with some of the largest financial institutions in the UK. Based in a modern warehouse-style office in Farringdon, we’re a talented team of 30 people, with experience from all over the world committed to problem solving. We want to create a unique place where user empathy and data are at the core of the product and the business. Responsibilities · Implementing complex features. · Developing accessible components. · Improving code through PR review and providing feedback on review quality. · Maintaining test coverage and quality. · Navigate project progress, timeline and the impact of changes to the product team · Contribute to the architectural decisions, advocate for best practices in frontend development, and stay updated with the latest web technologies. · Mentor junior developers, lead frontend projects, and collaborate with stakeholders. Qualifications and mindset · 5 years experience · Proficiency in TypeScript. · Understanding why React exists and how it solves problems. · Proven ability to improve a team through code review. · A background in solving critical engineering problems. · Startup mindset – be willing to get involved in a plethora of exciting projects. · Superb communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills. How our team works We run weekly sprints and daily stand-ups. We do regular retrospectives, often after a big project. Our code is on Github, we use pull requests for code review, and we use YouTrack for managing work. We ship code to production 3-5 times a day. We use React, Redux (RTK and RTKQ) and everything is TypeScript with only ErrorBoundary as a class component. We use Sass modules for styling our components. We write our tests using React Testing Library, we’ve recently moved from Jest to Vitest as our runner and we’re expanding our Playwright coverage. We respond to Sentry monitoring and resolve issues as soon as possible.
