Davies are looking for an experienced engineer/ scientist to join our Forensic Collision Investigations department, GBB, as Head of Large and Complex Loss Collision Investigations. On top of managing your own forensic investigations case-load, as department head you will take on additional responsibilities including managing a team of forensic investigators, liaising with clients, and working with the Director of GBB to run and develop the large and complex loss collision investigation operation. A level 6 qualification (degree) in science or engineering-based subject is desirable but those with equivalent practical experience are also encouraged to apply. In addition, you must have outstanding organisation and communication skills, be self-motivated, well-disciplined, and passionate. What will your day look like: The Head of Large and Complex Loss Investigations will be an experienced collision investigation/ reconstruction expert with a keen eye for detail and skills to conduct collision investigations including (but not limited to): Travel to and from site to carry out forensic vehicle examinations, locus inspections and photography Download and analyse vehicle data Consider findings alongside witness statements and other information sources, such to investigate and reconstruct collisions, determining such things as collision speeds, reaction times, lines of sight, liability, conspicuity in collisions involving (inter alia) motor vehicles, motorcycles, pedestrians Prepare high quality, impartial, technically accurate reports for use in pre- and post-litigation. Be an expert witness for the court and attend meetings with lawyers and equivalent subject experts, and provide expert testimony at trial. We receive instructions from solicitors, insurance companies, manufacturers and the general public. The role is customer facing with frequent meetings and discussions with clients and barristers. In addition to your case load you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Large and Complex Loss Collision Investigation team, dealing with customer enquiries, recruitment, and overseeing quality control. You will be a figure-head for the department, helping set standards and driving it forward in terms of capability and scale. Working closely with the Large Loss Planning Manager you will ensure investigations are dealt with in the most practical and cost-effective manner in order to provide a class-leading service. Reporting to the Director of GBB you will also be involved with business development and contribute to strategy and decision-making so the successful candidate will have a keen interest in the latest in collision investigation techniques and technology. Abilities And Knowledge: This is not a trainee position. The successful candidate will be expected to hit the ground running in terms of capability in large and complex collision investigation as no training will be provided in that respect. Minimum qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in an engineering or science-based subject or demonstration of equivalent practical experience Ideal additional qualifications Specific Collision Investigation Qualifications (UCPD, Cert HE etc) Member of the Institute of Traffic Accident Investigators Required Experience: Collision investigation Vehicle examinations Vehicle downloads (e.g. Bosch CDR) Court attendance 3D modelling and surveying Personal attributes: A team player able to forge strong communication channels with a team of remote members. Enthusiastic and driven to providing a high-quality service for customers Passionate about collision investigation. Keeps themselves up-to-date with the latest techniques and equipment Good presentations skills Well organised.
