Head of Platforms and Infrastructure Operations

Location: London - Hybrid Salary: £100,000 - £110,000 20% Bonus We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Platforms and Infrastructure Operations Leader to join a global financial service firm. This pivotal role involves overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and continuous improvement of our IT platforms and infrastructure. You will ensure our systems' stability, security, scalability, and performance, enabling seamless and efficient operations that align with our business goals and objectives. Key Responsibilities: Strategy and Planning Contribute to developing functional strategy and prioritize operational deliverables to support overall business targets. Manage tactical plans and support teams to achieve positive results per the company strategy. Policy, Process, and Procedures Oversee and prioritize the planning, organising, and tracking of major team deliverables. Report on the Platforms & Infrastructure team's activities to senior management. Provide hands-on technical expertise and senior-level guidance to staff, project leaders, and other teams as needed. Monitor the team's capacity and manage risks, actions, and issues to ensure timely, cost-effective, and quality outcomes. Maintain and update production acceptance documentation to reflect the current environment. Represent the IT Operations team in service reviews, vendor performance reviews, and other operational forums. Environmental Awareness/Customer Focus Develop positive relationships with key stakeholders to ensure services meet current and future needs. Lead the team responsible for managing relationships with each service line, ensuring alignment of technology products with strategic business priorities. Manage relationships with third parties to ensure the delivery of quality and cost-effective services. Set and meet performance targets for service speed, efficiency, and quality. Technical Performance Ensure the scalability, performance, and resilience of the platform, including backups and disaster recovery. Participate in the design of infrastructure solutions alongside Architects and service domains. Monitor Infrastructure and Cloud services to protect strategically important data and mission-critical systems. Be accountable for the quality of service and performance, ensuring services meet SLAs and KPIs. Make budgetary recommendations and reports related to infrastructure and platform initiatives. Promote security best practices and enforce the organization’s Information Security strategy across technology domains. Contribute to the development and maintenance of an effective Disaster Recovery schedule. People Management Manage and support the operational team(s), ensuring alignment with business needs. Resource, motivate, develop, and support the professional development of team members. Oversee team performance management, appointment, and reward processes. Establish clear accountabilities and build a strong culture of accountability and performance. Skills & Experience: Experience working within a regulated industry with a strong understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements. Demonstrated experience in managing IT operations in a hybrid environment. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, VMware infrastructure, and Terraform. Experience with cloud migration strategies and hybrid cloud environments. Strong leadership skills with experience managing and mentoring IT professionals. Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with emerging technologies. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and people management skills. Customer-oriented with the ability to manage expectations proactively.
