We are looking to hire a skilled Database/ETL Test Engineer to work alongside our other talented test engineers and developers within CHIA’s Data Operations and Technology (DOT) group. The testers’ duties will include performing key testing functions in the data product release process. In this role you will collaborate with your colleagues in DOT to design and create manual and automated tests to validate data sources, extraction of data, the application of transformation logic, and loading data into target tables in an Azure cloud database. The Database/ETL Tester is a key member of CHIA’s software development organization and our DOT team reporting to the Manager of Software Test. As a member of this team, you will have the opportunity to: Create, design, and execute test plans, test harnesses and test cases. Test ETL Datawarehouse components. Execute backend data-driven tests. Create strategies and test cases for data applications. Identify issues pertaining to submissions or ETL transactions during the creation of data warehouses, discuss with DBA’s, assist with remediation strategies, and timelines for correction. Execute formal test plans to ensure the delivery of data related projects. Define and track quality assurance metrics such as defects, defect counts, test results and test status. Document all problems and assist in their resolution. Here are the important qualifications we are looking for: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field. Seasoned SQL programmer with experience querying LARGE volumes (terabytes) of health data, preferably medical claims, dental claims, pharmacy claims, and eligibility data. Experience working with large scale Database Systems like SQL Server, PostGresSQL, Snowflake, etc., and ETL Tools like Talend Data Fabric and IBM DataStage. Experience with Agile Software Development & Testing methods for deployment in cloud environments, preferably MS Azure. Five or more years of relevant experience testing backend applications, focusing on complex SQL queries. Experience analyzing ETL mapping documents to design test plans for validating ETL code. Be able to create SQL scripts based on ETL mapping documents. Create and execute strategies and test cases for applications that use ETL components. Expertise in Database testing with excellent SQL skills. Data warehouse testing experience. Hands on experience in relational databases and database architecture. Hands on experience interpreting and understanding data models and ER diagrams. Demonstrable proficiency in Microsoft Teams and Microsoft Office, particularly Word & Excel. Familiarity with data visualization and business intelligence tools such as Tableau and Power BI will be an advantage but is not required.
