GIS ANALYST Would you like to be part of a leading Canadian Geographic Information Systems solutions provider? Caslys Consulting Ltd., located on the Saanich Peninsula just outside of Victoria, B.C., provides services related to all aspects of Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, database and web mapping application development. Our projects span study areas throughout North and South America with a focus on northern and western Canada. We are currently looking for a GIS analyst with 5 years experience working with the Esri suite of GIS products. This posting is for a permanent full-time position. Key Responsibilities: Using GIS to enter, extract and manipulate spatial data layers Development of summary statistics Development of cartographic products, preparation of maps and figures Image interpretation Development of metadata and methods documentation Design and implementation of spatial data models Participate in project reporting and execution Participate in proposal writing and business development Qualifications: Degree and/or diploma in GIS or geography with 5 years of experience with Esri’s suite of GIS software (ArcGIS, ArcSDE, ArcGIS Server, ArcGIS Online) Understanding and application/integration of GIS concepts and principles Experience using R statistical software to manipulate, analyze and visualize spatial data Experience in geoprocessing and georeferencing methods Experience in data editing, attribution and metadata management using ArcGIS Understanding of cartographic principles and ability to create professional quality maps Experience in GIS application development and programming using ESRI APIs Experience using ModelBuilder and other scripting software Efficient time management skills, able to work under pressure and remain organized Be results-oriented; strong problem solving and analytical skills; attention to detail; be able to multitask Strong interpersonal and communication skills Preference may be given to applicants with experience in: Intermediate to advanced knowledge of ArcGIS Pro Cartographic design and visual story telling Working knowledge of geospatial AI and machine learning techniques Experience with business development and writing proposals Wildlife movement/pattern analysis methods Developing Python and/or R scripts Classification of remotely sensed imagery Knowledge of open-source software SQL Server databases, administration and queries Spatial data management and maintenance We thank all applicants, however only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
