Carbon60 are working with a very well-known and reputable global airline , whose UX design system team are searching for a Software Engineer , specialising in design systems . Please note: To be considered for this contract, you must have extensive experience working on complex design systems in Figma — building reusable UI component libraries using React.js, ensuring components adhere to WCAG 2.2. Job Overview The UX Operations Lead for the airline is looking for an experienced and passionate Software Engineer to join their close-knit UX design system team. Main Responsibilities Contribute to the development of a reusable user interface (UI) component library using React.js, JavaScript, and TypeScript for the broader product teams. Work closely with frontend developers, UI designers, and other key stakeholders to gather requirements and provide technical support. Build design tokens that can be consumed by different applications. Drive adoption of best practices in code quality and modern development. Create detailed technical documentation for product teams, educating them on how to effectively use the airline's design system. Required Skills & Experience Essential: Several years of experience working in a design system team. Essential: Strong working knowledge of Figma. Essential: Proficiency in React.JS, JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS. Essential: Familiarity with versional control systems (Git) and frontend tools (webpack and NPM). Essential: Strong understanding of design token architecture and management. Essential: Excellent technical documentation writing skills. Essential: Solid understanding of accessibility standards and coding React components that meet web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG) 2.2. Desirable: Comfortable leading workshops and educating the wider team members in your area of expertise. Desirable: Good communication skills, with an ability to translate complex topics in an easy-to-understand way. Contract Specifics Contract Length: 6-months initially, with likelihood of extension(s). Pay Rate: £600–£650 per day (Inside IR35). Office Location: London (Victoria area). Hybrid Working Flex: 1x day per week in the office required.
